Failed / Fogged Glass Units
While the appearance of condensation, water droplets, and discoloration between the panes are the most obvious signs of unit failure, the largest concern with failed insulated glass is the loss of energy efficiency. Resulting in higher energy bills, the failed glass is no longer able to block the escape of temperature controlled air from your home.
Double paned glass develops condensation between the panes when the perimeter seal of the unit fails. This happens for many reasons and can occur very quickly or slowly over time. At Legacy Glass we can replace the glass unit only, while leaving your frame in tact. All our insulated units are double sealed and carry a 10 year manufacturer warranty against failure. Luckily, this situation has a simple fix; at Legacy Glass, we replace hundreds of failed units every year for customers just like you. Glass units consist of two panes of glass, the desiccant, (moisture absorbing gel) filled metal spacer bar around the perimeter of the glass, and the two layers of sealant. The unit can be made up of many glass options including clear, low-e, tinted and/or safety glass to match your existing windows and meet building codes. We can also replace units with grids (or mullion bars); aluminum bars between the panes of glass that give the appearance of true divided lites. |
